My name is Kerstin but everybody calls me Kim, so you might as well.
For as long as I can remember, I have had creative hobbies. I love art in almost any shape and form.
I grew up in Europe and I remember seeing some extraordinary architectural glass art. I was awed by the colors, the light, it being a part of the structure of the building, yet somehow being able to let the outside in.
Throughout the years I tinkered around in many different arts and crafts and they were all fun but were never a true passion.
Then, I don’t remember exactly how many years ago, I discovered glass and the obsession began.
I started out with stained glass, then mosaics. I needed a kiln for the glass paints and since I already had the kiln, it was just a short step to fusing, and, and, and …
Currently, I mostly work on fused glass jewelry and mosaic pet portraits. But if I ever get enough time, I am itching to do more stained glass projects again.
With my jewelry, I try to let the glass do the talking. The colors set the mood and different transparencies provide extra depth. The fine silver inclusions are like the icing on the cake.
